What to wear on vacation to make jaws drop:
Retro fashion influencer and mega bombshell Jasmin aka @vintagevandal is releasing a clothing line in May. Pieces include a 1940s-style blush crop top with balloon sleeves and wide-leg pants set inspired by Jean Harlow, and a tropical palm-print set inspired by Carmen Miranda. The line is focused on “creating pieces that move.” Certain items are limited edition. The clothing will be available at vintagevanalizm.com.
How to channel your inner Audrey Hepburn on a Roman Holiday:
Now that you’ve got your pool party look on point, you’ll need a glamorous ensemble for sight-seeing. My favorite couple on Instagram, @katielouiseford and @timothyhughnicol, will release their first Nicol & Ford Resort Collection in June. Named Pieno Sole, the line has elegant pieces that make you feel like you’re vacationing in Italy, circa 1948. There’s a flirty romper, a curve-hugging “beach dress,” a cotton chambray unisex jumpsuit and more. The collection will be available on nicolandford.com.
What book to pick up for serious summer beach reading:
In The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper, author Hallie Rubenhold digs into the real lives of five women who were murdered in 1888 by “the Ripper.” Their stories in the media have often been twisted and full of untrue statements, and Rubenhold hopes to set the record straight about their devastating circumstances.
What to watch if you miss Mad Men fashion and love murder mysteries:
The new season of hit 1920s murder mystery series, Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries, springs forward to the swinging ’60s. The spinoff of the hit Australian show, dubbed Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, stars Geraldine Hakewill as Fisher’s neice, Peregrine. Understandably, there have been mixed reactions to the trailer for the spinoff from the original show’s devoted fans. The series makes its US debut on Acorn TV on Monday, April 29.
