Sweaty girl summer is in full swing and I’m doing my best to keep it classy while the sun beats down with full force. I’m someone who tends to feel hot rather easily, so I’m extra mindful about the fabrics I wear during summer. One item that’s keeping me cool and collected is the linen Son de Flor Short Sleeve Wrap Dress.
Sweaty gals know there are certain fabrics to avoid in a heat wave. The words “polyester” and “sun dress” should never, ever be in the same sentence. Not only is the material more likely to show sweat stains, it also isn’t breathable, so I basically feel like I’m roasting in it when temperatures are soaring.
That’s why I wear as much linen as possible during summer. It’s lightweight and breathable, and I like the relaxed, lived-in look of it that helps me feel like I’m on vacation, even if I’m actually in the midst of the most pleasureless errands.
The Son de Flor Short Sleeve Wrap Dress is the most recent linen addition to my closet. This flattering summer dress is 100% linen, not a rayon-linen blend like many modern “linen” clothing actually is.

Son de Flor Short Sleeve Wrap Dress review
The Son de Flor Short Sleeve Wrap Dress has long fabric ties that can be tied as tightly or loosely as you’d like. The classic v-neckline, cinched waist and flouncy skirt make this a classic dress you can style for either casual activities or more sophisticated events.
The linen wrap dress comes in several colors: Evergreen, Marsala Red, Vintage Pink, Marigold, Spring Green and a few prints. I chose Marigold, a beautiful deep gold that I think is a great transition color for summer to fall.
I also like this unique style detail: the sleeves have a white inner lining so you can cuff the sleeves for a new look, or wear them down for more coverage.
Another perk of this classy summer dress? Pockets! That’s right, not only is this elegant dress super flattering and comfortable, it also has pockets for stowing your necessities. Who wants to bother with a large, cumbersome handbag in hot weather?
Is Son de Flor good quality?
I find Son de Flor clothing to be of excellent quality. The flattering fit and high quality feel of the fabric keep me coming back to my Son de Flor pieces again and again. I can tell these are clothing items I’ll be able to enjoy for years to come.
The linen wrap dress is pre-washed and softened and won’t shrink after washing at home. I’ve washed another favorite Son de Flor piece, a pair of culottes, several times in my washing machine on the delicate cycle and they’re in excellent condition. I do wear them several times before washing to avoid extra wear and tear. You can hand wash linen in a sink or tub for an even gentler wash.
Another detail I appreciate about Son de Flor items is that there is always a sweet little note hidden in one of the pockets for you to find. It’s special touches like this that make wearing the garment even more magical.
Does the Son de Flor Wrap Dress run large or small?
As I shared in my Son de Flor Wide Leg Culottes review, I find Son de Flor pieces to run slightly large. I suggest viewing their size chart for the item you’re interested in, and you can contact their customer service for additional help.
I took size extra small in the wrap dress. For reference, I have a 34B size bust and 26-inch waist. The dress is slightly large in the bust area on me, but I don’t mind it being a little loose rather than too tight. This makes it much more comfortable to wear during summer. I can’t stand tight clothing when I’m sweaty! If you prefer your clothing to fit tighter you may want to size down one or even two sizes.
Also, linen has no stretch, and that includes the sleeves. I’m kind of used to not moving my arms far above my head in my vintage dresses—us vintage gals have all experienced the underarm rips from attempting to reach too high—so this doesn’t bother me much. It is something to keep in mind if you prefer more flexibility or have broader shoulders.
As for length, this pretty summer dress falls below my knees. There’s plenty of material to stay covered at picnics and outdoor events without the worry of flashing anyone, and to protect your skin from the sun. I think this length works with both flat shoes and heels. However, if you’re petite, you may prefer one of Son de Flor’s mini dress styles.
