Spring has spring and it’s finally a reasonable time to pack away the bulky winter clothing and add a few new cute outfits for spring to our closets. I’m excited to share that I’ve partnered with retro fashion brand Simple Retro to bring you spring outfit ideas for the season’s most enjoyable activities. These vintage-inspired looks are both cute and comfortable enough for picnics, lunch dates or exploring a different city.

I first became familiar with Simple Retro on Instagram and quickly fell for the romantic pieces inspired by styles from the 1940s or earlier. Simple Retro is a clothing brand founded in 2015 that focuses on timeless pieces with vintage charm. The brand offers pretty dresses, adorable blouses and knits, classic denim cuts and more. The clothing is easy to wear, easy to wash and versatile when it comes to styling for different occasions.

I put together three cute outfits for spring featuring some of my favorite pieces from Simple Retro. I plan to wear them all season to picnics, art crawls and shopping trips with vintage accessories and romantic makeup.

Spring day date outfit: Floral dress with a big hat

The Simple Retro Fannie Printed Floral Tea Dress has sweet 1940s-inspired details like a suit collar and buttons at the chest. It’s hard to pick a favorite detail, but I do love the ruched sleeves. The string ties under the bust allow you to tighten it to your liking. It’s also lined so you don’t have to worry about it being too sheer, if that’s a concern.

I’d wear this adorable dress with sneakers for coffee dates or walks through the park, or with strappy sandals and a wide-brim hat for lunch or happy hour on a patio. During cooler spring days, I think this dress would look cute with a white beret hat, tights and booties.

Cute outfit for a spring picnic: Embroidered blouse with cropped jeans

The Simple Retro Alicia Floral Blouse is made of a rayon that drapes beautifully and has the slightly puffed sleeves I adore. There are plenty of other cute details like the ruffled trim on the collar and the white and gold-tone flower buttons. I love it tucked into the Simple Retro Felicia Vintage Inspired Blue Straight Jeans, which have a cropped fit that’s ideal for warmer months, with platform wedge sandals.

It’s worth noting that these jeans are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. There’s a decent amount of stretch so they not only glide easily over my hips, but they also allow me to sit without feeling tempted to undo the top button. Stiff, standing-only jeans are just not for me!

Spring vineyard trip outfit: Cotton blouse with a denim maxi skirt

Audrey Hepburn’s button-up blouse and belted skirt combo in Roman Holiday is the perfect warm weather outfit, in my opinion. I was inspired to create a similar look with the Simple Retro Agnes Edwardian Inspired Blouse. Made of 100% cotton, my fabric of choice, it’s a beautiful and breathable piece that pairs well with an A-line skirt, like the Simple Retro Aileen Maxi Jeans Skirt. I added a vintage brown leather belt, a scarf tied around the neck and a matching pair of vintage-inspired sandals.

I’m sure you’ll notice one very important detail: the Aileen skirt has POCKETS. That’s right! Pockets. I’ve already worn this outfit to run errands and was grateful for the deep pockets that held my phone, keys and lip balm. I can see myself also wearing this to vineyard trips, and well, just about anywhere.

Does Simple Retro fit true to size?

Overall, I found the Simple Retro items to fit true to size. I typically wear size extra small or small in blouses, depending on the brand, and I have a 34″ bust. The Simple Retro blouses in size small fit perfectly.

I also found the Fannie dress in size small to fit true to size. Usually, I prefer my dresses to be a tad longer, but I didn’t mind the shorter hemline with this dress. I do think the empire waist style would look really flattering on a more petite frame. Simple Retro makes cute dresses of all lengths, so a knee-length or maxi dress may be in my future.

As for the Felicia blue jeans, I found them to be true to size. I have a 26″ waist and am wearing size 26. As I mentioned, there’s also plenty of stretch to the material, so my 36″ hips fit just fine. The Aileen jean skirt obviously offers plenty of room in the hips and I found the size small to fit my waist wonderfully. I can also cinch the waist tighter with a belt if I want.
