A flattering shade of blush can add a beautiful glow to your face. Depending on what eye makeup and lip color you’re wearing, certain shades are more compatible than others. A light pink or peach blush is fresh and pretty for spring, while a deeper rose blush looks great with vintage makeup looks. For “no makeup-makeup” days a nude blush is more subtle.

Texture is also important. My skin gets oily throughout the day so I typically prefer a powder blush that has a lower chance of migrating around my face. However, there are moments when I want a glossier makeup look, which is easily achieved through a cream product. Whether you like a dewy cream blush, a matte liquid blush or a soft powder blush, you’ll find a recommendation below.

Read on for the list of my favorite shades of blush.

Pretty blush for fair skin

Palladio Liquid Blush – Dainty

Palladio Liquid Blush can actually be worn as a cheek and lip color. Bonus: it’s only $10. The shade Dainty is a light rosy pink that looks lovely as a blush for fair skin. The formula feels comfortable on the skin, and has a more matte appearance than cream blushes once blended. If you have oily skin but like the natural flush that a cream blush gives, this liquid blush is a good option. In the photo above, I’m wearing the shade Dainty as a blush and the shade Dusty Rose as a lip color. Palladio Liquid Blush, $10 at Palladio Beauty

Stila Blush & Bronze Hydro-Blur Cheek Duo – Apricot & Golden

The new Stila Blush & Bronze Hydro-Blur Cheek Duo is another 2-in-1 product. One end of the product is a blush stick and the other end is a bronzer stick. The shape and size of the stick makes it easy to draw on contour or dot on some color. This blush is easy to blend and has a lovely, dewy finish. Plus, it’s a smart choice for when you want to save space in your makeup bag while traveling. If you prefer peachy shades of blush, try the Apricot & Golden combo. Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio – Pool Party

Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio in Pool Party is the blush I use the most. With three powder blush shades in one mirrored compact, you can take your look from subtle to bold and bright. I like the peachy shade on the right for everyday makeup, and the deep rose shade on the left for evening. When I want a little sparkle, I’ll layer on the middle shade that has just the right amount of glitter. Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio in Pool Party, $30 at Revolve

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush – Pillow Talk

Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick in the shade Pillow Talk has become an increasingly popular pick, seen on movie stars on the red carpet and all over social media. You can also get the shade in a stunning blush compact. It has a unique design; you’re meant to brush the outer ring of color along your cheekbones, and pop the center highlight color on the apples of your cheeks. The result is a look with dimension and a glowy finish. Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush in Pillow Talk Original, $42 at Nordstrom

Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Ceam Blush Stick – Quirk

Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Cream Blush Stick in Quirk is a pretty “spiced rose” that’s creamy and buildable. It’s also smaller than a lip gloss or blush compact so it’s ideal for packing in your purse for touch-ups. The applicator has a wide surface area, so it’s a bit difficult to apply it directly to lips with precision. I find it easier to dab product on a finger and smooth onto lips, or use a lip brush. Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Cream Blush Stick in Quirk, $24 at Sephora

Dafna Beauty D Rose Glow Palette

If you’re a fan of highly pigmented blush, you’ll fall in love with the Dafna Beauty D Rose Glow Palette. The palette features two pressed powders: the Rose blush is a matte, deep, cool-toned pink inspired by vintage blush shades, and shimmery gold Gleam shade is an incredible highlight. The palette also has a generously sized mirror. Dafna Beauty D Rose Glow Palette, $55 at Dafna Beauty

Stila Convertible Color – Magnolia

Most positive reviews I’ve seen for Stila Convertible Color have been for the shade Peony. I haven’t had the pleasure of trying that one yet, but I do really enjoy the shade Magnolia as a blush. This nude mauve is surprisingly super flattering on my fair skin. I especially like wearing it with gold eye shadow and a brown or mauve lip color for a bronzed effect. Stila Convertible Color in Magnolia, $25 at Macy’s
