Rest in peace, Karl:

The fashion world was in mourning this week after iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld died on February 19 at the age of 85. Lagerfeld was creative director of Chanel for over three decades, and was also creative director for Fendi and his namesake label.

How a white pant suit can support equality for women:

In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, Banana Republic has released the Equality Collection, a limited-edition capsule of t-shirts and accessories. A donation of $5 from the sale of each item will be made to the non-profit CARE, which focuses on fighting poverty and on the advancement of women and girls around the world. The collection is available now through April 25, 2019.

As a nod to next year’s 100th anniversary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote, Banana Republic designed a white pant suit to honor the women who fought for the vote and made the color synonymous with equality. A photo from the campaign shows what appears to be a photo of a suffragette in a white dress next to a modern image of a woman in a white paint suit with the words “Raise Your Voice” layered over the images.

Izaac Mizrahi tells all in new memoir:

American fashion designer Izaac Mizrahi digs deep into his past in I.M.: A Memoir, out February 26. Mizrahi first shot to fame in the late 1980s and has since created lines for Target and QVC and served as a judge on Project Runway: All Stars. In his memoir, he talks openly about coming out, his struggles with weight and depression and his start in fashion.
