Easy Halloween Makeup Ideas

Devil makeup for Halloween

Unleash your inner demon with this fiery Halloween eye makeup. To get the look, apply an orange eye shadow all over the lid, followed by a darker orange or brown in the crease and outer corner. Create a winged liner shape with a red liquid eyeliner, then apply a deep pink blush and red lipstick. For your costume, wear a red bodysuit or top with a devil horn headband. Accessorize with a red ribbon tied around your neck or a choker necklace for a look that says, “I’m evil but cute.”

What to use for the devil makeup look:

Endora from Bewitched makeup

Endora makeup for Halloween

This glam Halloween makeup look is inspired by Endora from the 1960s sitcom, Bewitched. I used the ColourPop High Tide Eyeshadow Palette, which I think is one of the best eyeshadow palettes for Halloween makeup. This look is all about the eyes, so layer on the turquoise eyeshadow (all the way up to the brow!), bold winged eyeliner, mascara and false lashes. Use a mauve blush and a pinky-peach lipstick. For your outfit, a green or purple flowy maxi dress with a vest will capture Endora’s vibrant witchy vibe. Wear a red wig or tease and pile all of your hair on top of your head in a ’60s-inspired updo.

Cat makeup for Halloween

When all else fails, you can’t go wrong with a classic cat eye. This versatile and pretty Halloween makeup look can be worn with many costumes, including a black cat costume. Use black liquid liner to created a winged liner look on top of neutral eyeshadow, apply red lipstick and you’re good to go! You can also use black eyeliner to draw on some whiskers and a nose. If you don’t want to buy an ears headband, try the cat ears scarf style instead.

Flapper makeup for Halloween

A little party never killed nobody… or did it? Whether you’re going as a glam flapper or an undead film star this Halloween, authentic 1920s makeup will pull your look together. Apply a deep gray eyeshadow all over your lid, then add black liner to the top lash line and a few coats of black mascara. You can also add white eyeliner on your waterline to help your eyes appear larger. Apply a dark red lipstick, grab your pearls and party dress and you’re ready to do the Charleston! You could also add white face paint if you’re going as a ghostly socialite.

Jessica Rabbit makeup for Halloween

She’s not bad, she’s just drawn that way. Draw on your own Jessica Rabbit makeup with shimmery purple eyshadow, a lengthening mascara and red lipstick that has shine. While there are Jessica Rabbit costumes to buy online, I suggest shopping at your local vintage and thrift stores for a nightclub-worthy red dress and long purple evening gloves.

Retro Barbie makeup for Halloween

Barbie made her debut in March 1959, when blue eyeshadow was on trend. Get the look with a matte blue eyeshadow, black winged eyeliner, lengthening mascara and red lipstick. Make a high ponytail and accessorize with white cat-eye sunglasses and gold drop hoop earrings. For an outfit, a black and white striped swimsuit or bodysuit would be a close match to what the original Barbie wore, or opt for a little black dress and black evening gloves.

Frida Kahlo makeup

Frida Kahlo makeup

Frida Kahlo’s fashion and beauty choices were just as memorable as her art. And since her husband, Diego Rivera, saved many of her personal possessions after her death, we know the exact makeup products Frida Kahlo wore. Channel the iconic artist with a rosy blush, bright red lipstick and easy braided updo. And don’t forget to add a unibrow with black brow pencil! Kahlo wore traditional Mexican clothing much of the time; channel her style with a floor-length skirt, large scarf or wrap and jewelry in bright colors.

Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s makeup

Breakfast at Tiffany's makeup

Putting together a Breakfast at Tiffany’s outfit for Halloween? While a vintage Givenchy gown may not be in the budget, you can buy the lipstick Audrey Hepburn wears in the film. There’s been some debate over the exact brand and shade over the years, but many beauty enthusiasts agree that it’s Revlon Pink in the Afternoon. Wear it with a neutral eyeshadow, thick eyeliner on the top lid and a few coats of thickening mascara. Wear with a black cocktail dress and multi-strand pearl necklace.
