Beyond the flattering high-rise, wide-leg fit and color that goes with just about everything, these pants have an elastic waistband, and the ultimate element that determines a pair of pants’ likability: pockets. The culottes button up the side with several large buttons so they feel nice and secure.
Made of 100% hemp, they’re incredibly lightweight and breathable, the only kind of clothing I can tolerate during summer. This sustainable textile softens over time, so the pants will only get more comfortable the more I wash and wear them.
What to wear with brown wide leg culottes
The high rise makes these pants a great match for cropped tank tops or shirts tied at the waist. I’ve worn them with simple tank tops and heels, a colorful halter top with sandals for a night at a tiki bar, and much more.
And since it doesn’t usually get cold where I live until very late in the year, I can keep wearing them during fall. The neutral ‘Camel Brown’ color looks great with everything from striped t-shirts to short-sleeve sweaters to cardigans to billowy blouses.

I think these pants would be a smart option for traveling, given how versatile they are. I’d only hesitate because the fabric wrinkles easily, as linen and hemp do. However, it’s nothing a quick iron or steam can’t fix. You can also sprinkle the fabric with water and pull taught to smooth out wrinkles between wears.
Another trick I learned long ago is to slightly dampen your clothing and hang it in the bathroom while you shower. The steam will help release the wrinkles. And ultimately, the casual, lived-in look is part of the appeal of fabrics like this.
